DIY How to Sharpen a Chainsaw by Hand with Round and Flat File | Basic S...

This video covers the basics on how to properly sharpen a chainsaw so it will cut just like a new chain. The trick is to make sure your file is perpendicular to the bar and then at the 30 degree angle (marked on the file). File each tooth of the chain the same amount of strokes. I usually like to start with 5 or 6. Once you file all of the teeth then you can file down the rakers using the same principle. This demonstration tutorial was done on a Stihl Farm Boss MS271. This saw has not let me down and have put it through a lot of abuse so far. Runs best with a nice and sharp chain.
