DIY Ring Doorbell 3 Plus Indoor Cam Unboxing and Installation [Ring Cam ...

Picked up this DIY Ring Doorbell 3 Plus Indoor Cam at Costco and do an Unboxing and Installation Tutorial along the way. Here's the steps after removing packaging:

1. Remove batteries from Doorbell Ring Cam and charge until complete 

2. Once charged, re-install battery into the doorbell ring cam

3. At house, turn off power to doorbell and remove old doorbell button

4. Install Ring app to your phone

5. If needed, install the provided black extension wires to existing old doorbell wires

6. Hook up wires to new doorbell ring cam (color coding doesn't matter)

7. Mount new doorbell ring cam by installing plastic wedge plate then the camera to the wedge

8. Turn power back on

9. Push green button under the battery cover to link up camera to phone & Ring app

10. Plug in indoor camera and sync up using ring app

I pulled everything out of the box and placed it all out on the table. 

The ring cam itself looks like this when pulled out of the box. It needs to come apart and battery removed as part of the set up process. 

First the battery cover needs to be removed. Gentle pressure along the bottom edge will help slowly work the gray cover off the main piece. Remove the gray cover and set it aside for later assembly.

With the cover removed it exposes the ring camera's battery and the tab that needs to be depressed for removal and charging.

Press on the silver button and slide the battery out of the camera body.

Contained in the box is the battery's charger. Hook the charger up to the battery and charge for a few hours. Ideally, if you can, charge it overnight and it'll be fresh in the morning. During this installation I charged it for around 3-4 hours.

The light indicators will tell you when it's ready.

Once charged, insert the battery back into the charged ring cam. The round LED light on the front will quickly light up and blink a blue color. 

Place the cover over the camera and again the light will blink a blue color. 

Now is the time to start installing the Ring app on your phone. Now go ahead and turn the power off to the doorbell (if you choose) and unhook the old door bell. I found that the ones I've installed that I didn't need to turn off the power to it as the voltage was so low that I didn't get shocked at all, however, I will recommend you not do this and go ahead and make sure the power is turned off to the doorbell. 

These are the two wires that will get hooked up to the ring cam. There is no ground wire as seen in many household wiring set ups. Also it does not matter which wire gets hooked up to which pole of the camera.

The ring cam comes with two black extension wires. I did not need to use them during this set up, however, in many set ups there is not enough wire length of the existing household wires to reach the ring cam so this is where these extension wires come in very handy.

This shows the two connection points on the ring cam. Again, it does not matter which color wire from the doorbell wires gets connected to the cam. One wire for each screw.

The ring cam riser wedge needs to be installed in the optimum position for maximum visibility. 

Run the existing doorbell wires through the opening in the ring cam wedge.

Secure the ring cam plastic wedge to the house using the provided screws. Be sure not to over-tighten as this could potentially crack the plastic.

Connect the doorbell wires to the ring cam and tighten them down and then secure the ring cam to the wedge.

This shows the final positioning of the ring cam and is almost ready for use. 

The very bottom of the ring cam contains a security screw that must be tightened as the last installation step. The indoor cam is a no-brianer and just needs to be plugged in and placed in the location of your choice in your house. Below is the the full video showing the installation process.

Gardening season is upon us and its time to grow your favorite crops in using this super easy raised garden bed design. I happened upon some scrap cedar from one of the local fencing places and made a couple of these for relatively free. You could get by with just a table saw and some screws if that's all you had and you could wind up with the same product. I like to use a combination of a table saw, chop saw, brad nailer and cordless drill with a few self tapping screws to hold the corners together for the long term. Not shown in this video is that I started using Romex wire staple type fasteners to hold the boards up against the frame. The brad nailer will hold just fine as the force of the dirt, when filled, pushes out against the boards so they won't as easily come loose but the Romex wire staples or some small wood screws or nails will work even better. This simple design is one that most inexperienced folks can use. The steps are as follows:

1. Cut four 2 X 4's to 30" in length 

2. Using a table saw, rip those in half, lengthwise making 8 pieces

3. Cut 45 degree corners on all pieces

4. Using table saw, cut notch (ledge) into each piece

5. Nail corners together making two full picture frame structures identical to each other

6. Cut 16" wood slats

7. Nail slats into identical top and bottom frames

8. Using self tapping screws, screw into the corners 

Now just fill it with topsoil and plant your favorite crop.

It is blue tooth capable so I was able to play music through both a portable speaker as well as wireless headphones which was really nice. In my "DIY Forging a Door Pull and Drawer Handle From Old Hardened Steel Tool [Blacksmith Forged Door Pull]" I show how I hand forge some cool textured vintage looking door pulls/handles. I heated up the full length of some old tool steel and bent it around to my desired shape then flatten out the ends for a decorative look. I chose to drill the holes in each side. I coated this one with rustoleum spray paint but immediately regretted it as I should have just done my normal treatment to it with wither WD-40, linseed oil, or some bee's wax. Fun project and thought this was. a great repurposing of some old rusty tool steel that hasn't been used in over 20 years.

I unbox and assemble this fantastic Weber Genesis II Gas Grill according to the step by step directions and bring the viewer along with me every step of the way. I've used this grill now quite a bit and it's holding up and performing great. I really like how you can fine tune the gas flow to adjust your cooking heat on a finer level than most gas grills out there. This took around 4 hours to unbox and assemble partially because I really took my time and filmed the whole assembly. I've now used this grill for oysters, steaks, chicken and delicious corn. DIY Toyota Tacoma Headlamp Changeout Process and Upgrade [Toyota Tacoma ...

This video shows you the simple process of replacing your headlamps on a Toyota Tacoma. I had just completed shining up the outer headlamp surfaces (see my video on this) with a 3M brand headlight restoration kit but wanted to further improve my night driving visibility. It had gotten so bad that we couldn't barely make out the white line on the side of the roads in certain areas that were not otherwise lit up. The new headlamps are "100%" brighter according to the packaging and cost around $50 at the local NAPA auto parts store. Between cleaning and polishing the outer surface of the headlights and changing out the bulbs, the night vision while driving has improved quite a bit. I was glad I went with the 100% brighter as they actually were not as bright as I thought before installing them. I didn't want to be the jerk out there whose headlights are so bright it appears that the high beams are on. This is not the case with these just in case you were wondering. The new headlamps come with a 3 year warranty as well so I keep the receipt and old headlamps (for backups) just in case I needed to cash in on that warranty. The steps for chaining this out are very easy and are as follows:

No tools necessary.....

Step 1: Open hood

Step 2: Remove electrical connector plug from back of head lamp (it pulls straight out by hand)

Step 3: Remove rubber boot

Step 4. Unlatch holding spring

Step 5: Pull lamp out and install new one

It's just that easy!!!!

Here's how I installed this new LED Allen and Roth "Welton" Outdoor Wall Lantern Porch Light Installation Tutorial Part #2602001 [LED] model. I unbox and install this new power saving light fixture which also adds an upgraded decorative look. I first located the the breaker for the circuit that I was to be working on and shut off the power. On the shelf right now is this "DIY COSTCO Home Zone Brand Security LED Light Hardwired 3000 Lumens [DIY LED Motion Security Light]" for only $20.00. You can't beat it. I'm not paid to sell this or sponsored but a good deal is a good deal and I must pass this along. This is sooo bright, you'll love it. You won't be disappointed with this sucker. Great buy for a nice and bright, easy to install, security light. For me this installation boiled down to a few steps and are as follows: 1. Turn off the power at breaker (double check with voltage tester) 2. Unbolt and unwire the old crusty existing light 3. Unbox new one and read the directions 4. Wire it up. I wired this one up white to white, black to black, ground to ground 5. Select desired settings for sensitivity, sun/moon/or just all nighttime That's it. Super easy. If unsure on how to do any of this or if you have different wiring configurations, get ahold of a certified electrician. While these are geared towards your doityourself (DIY) for my fellow DIY technicians, if you have a weird or different wiring configuration make sure you have a certified pro to install this for you. Another safe option is a good Handyman (much like myself) and hire it out. It's a fairly easy job IF you know how to do this kind of stuff safely. Don't attempt this is you are questioning what you are doing because this could result in catastrophic results if you don't get it right. Here's a sample ion the transcipts: "I'm gonna go ahead and put up this home zone security light it's a hardwired light & 3000 lumen three bulbs or a three led motion activated i'm gonna go ahead and this is the light that's getting replaced this old thing put that led up out here so this thing's got to go first thing i'm gonna do is make sure the power's off too okay go ahead and take this off it's got some old rusted flat heads. Klein tools makes this thing has come through for me quite a bit so anyway no power there we're looking good this thing would be red there was power to it so power's off unbox this thing got the directions there some mounting brackets. Man this is going to be so nice look at this so this is your mounting bracket and then look at that then you just pop that baby on there and plug it in so all you got to deal with is is hanging this thing wiring this thing super easy and it's going to be white to white ground to ground s I got the wires pushed back into the box now the key here is just to make sure this thing is going to be able to mount all the way straight up. Let's test it out and then what i'll do is you can adjust the settings all the settings are right down here and i'll show you all that in a little bit but there we go let's just make sure our power's working oh yeah this thing is working like a champ. This thing lights up the whole side of the house this is a this is a winner so if you're looking for a good spotlight i'd say it'll go at least a good 50 feet of light you know probably 40 50 feet but excellent spread on this i'm gonna get light all the way down here all the way over there i'll even angle them more to the optimal position so very happy with this one these babies are bright there we go shut off back on yeah it's nice i like it okay here's a quick rundown of the settings and uh so you can set it this thing's nice and sensitive you can set the sensitivity you can set it for how long it stays on so i got it you can put seven minutes three minutes and then this is your uh your lux and how bright you want that thing i got it on sunshine right now so there's moon mode okay i don't know what that means but there's the sensitivity right there so you can mess with that mess with this put on bright how long it stays on one minute three minutes i'm gonna keep it on three all right that's it thanks for watching all right there's that light so i just want to go over this one more time real quick here so while it's daylight you can see the setting is on the daylight settings so it's daylight out and uh because if you want it like right in the middle. Right in the middle there and then that's if you just want it to come on at night of course here's your your settings for timing i'm gonna go three minutes on that and then here's the sensitivity. I highly recommend it and again i'm gonna go ahead and run some caulk.

In my Allen & Roth LED Flush Mount Power Saving Ceiling Light Installation Tutorial Part # 2592466 I go through the quick and simple step by step process to install this allen and roth led light led flush mount ceiling fixture.

I unbox this so here it is out of the box.  One of the things is the back side of it it's kind of cool comes with these these wire connectors here so makes it easier i haven't i haven't used these ones before but i'm going to give it a shot

right there's step one so we're gonna pull the base away from the outer case of that okay this piece here will pull off of there see it's got these little tabs on that so this black piece just comes off from the assembly here now this piece will twist off this piece twists off of there

i already twisted it that way exposes that and then you can see here you can get it mounted and good there step one is done two

okay select our color temperature that we want i'm gonna go ahead and this is white so you can cut you have all your settings right there all adjustable here

so i'm going to go all the way to cool i'm going to go as bright as we can if we want to knock it down ever we can just go right here and set it there okay step two is done step three i'm gonna go ahead and install our screws and the sides of the the cup there okay we've got our screws installed now it's time to wire it up all right this is pretty cool so it even shows you kind of how to wire it you just stick your other one in there so we already know it's going to go white and white black to black ground to ground but what i didn't know that's a new fixture to me right there connector so that'll be cool this even tells you black to black white to white green to copper bear let's make it pretty stinking nice so as far as these connectors go you can see the strength of it i've just got the ground in there it's holding the whole light up so i don't typically recommend this but i kind of want to test the strength on that so i'll do the same thing with these two wires just pop them right in next to each other just push them in it's pretty good okay there we go got them connected i'm gonna turn the power on make sure it works before i get it secured hey all right works step four is done we got it wired and it works now we're just going to screw this up in there i'm going to twist that onto the screws and then tighten it up so i just left these long you know so they would protrude down from the ceiling so we could just pop them through that hole and then twist it that way now i'll just tighten these up

there's that now we're going to take this piece here see where these little divots are right there that's where they're going to go and slide on they're going to twist it that way it'll stay okay so what i'm doing now with this black thing so this is supposed to go on before you put this whole thing up so i'm actually just taking these tabs so there's two slots right there taking these tabs and just kind of bending them down that way it won't come off come off of there i don't know any other way to do it so i just bent that down not there too now i can just screw the whole thing on so same with this one there's four of them kind of bending the tabs down in there all right let's screw this thing up to the fixture now there we go much better just screws right on threads right on there uh clockwise there it is got her on a dimmer switch

First you must have your behind in the seat because there is a safety mechanism under the seat that will not allow the Cub Cadet Mower to start unless it's being engaged. The next thing is to press the brake on the left side down with your left leg/foot and then turn the key to the right. It should start right up. If not, first troubleshooting step is to make sure it has gas in the tank. This takes regular unleaded gasoline or ethanol free premium gas. Once the motor starts and you want to go, you will simultaneously slowly release the brake with your left foot and then engage throttle with your right foot by pressing the forward most lever. There are two levers located at your right foot. The front one is forward and the back one is for reverse.

This riding mower is a cub cadet riding mower and is an XT2 enduro series.  I laugh about that and every time i think about "enduro" which to me means it's street legal.  

Whenever I'm done I make it a habit to pull the key out because that battery will go dead as it has many times in the past which ends up costing me a battery replacement. 

The throttle adjustment is important as well too. I usually like to keep it up high when I'm mowing an lower if I'm not mowing rather just transiting from one location to the other.

It has silent features as well as auto locking and interior control to the max. It was a little on the expensive side to purchase but it was well worth it as it contains a bunch of unique security features.

The Honeywell Digital Knob Handleset features a programmable lock that allows you to set up individual codes for multiple users. a backlit keypad that automatically lights up when its being used, and a remote control fob for easy access. Adjustable latch fits 1-3/8 In. - 1-3/4 In. thick doors and 2-3/8 In. - 2-3/4 In. adjustable backset. Lock can be easily rekeyed by any locksmith. Type in (PC) + (Unlock Button) + 4 + (Unlock Button) + (New 6 digit PC of  your choice) + (Unlock Button)+ Re-enter New PC + (Unlock Button)

Hear 1 beep and Light Indicator illuminates green. Record New and Changed Codes so you won’t forget them.

 

TO ADD A NEW USER CODE (you can add up to 50 new user codes)

The User Code (UC) must be a 4-8 digit combination. Each User Code (UC) is then linked to a User ID (ID) (which is any number between 01-50) to identify an individual User Code (UC). (User ID [ID] 1-9 should be entered as 01-09 so they are 2 digits).

As an example: to add the User ID-08 to User Code-5678, enter the following:

Hear 1 beep and the Light Indicator will illuminate green

 

Secure Lock-out Period

Warning sounds and LED flashes red after 4 incorrect code attempts: Keypad shuts down for 30 seconds.

 

Turning Sound On or Off

You can “mute” or turn the “sound on” on your lock by entering the following. (Factory setting is sound on).

(PC) + (Unlock Button) + 6 + (Unlock Button) + 1 or 2 + (Unlock Button)

1=sound Off

2=sound on

Sound Off (1) - Light Indicator illuminates green. Sound On (2) - Hear 1 beep and Light Indicator illuminates green.

DIY How to Upgrade and Change an Electrical Wall Outlet 110V Household P...

The first step I did was to turn off the power at the breaker then verified that it was in fact by making sure a plugged in light didn't turn on as well as verifying with a voltage sensor. Once I confirmed the power was off unscrewed the old electrical outlet and discarded it. The new one went on the exact same way as the old one came off. Once I tightened down my new connections I gave the wires a nice tug to make sure they were secured properly and won't come free. I added a layer of weatherproofing and then a new outlet cover and called it a day. I turned the breaker back on and was in business with a brand new upgraded outlet.

Wagonwheel Lake Hike/Run Olympic National Forest WA State | 2.9 Miles Ve...

This butt kicker starts off slow at the trailhead through some mildly steep ferns and then progresses into an endless series of grueling switchbacks.Once you think you're getting close to the top or to the lake, the steep part is just beginning. It keeps getting steeper and steeper to the top. Once you reach near the top the trail side-hills it and makes you think it's going to stay flat for a bit but then it inclines some more. It then takes you through a nice brushy green area that was a landslide area some time ago and looks like perfect country for a bear, filled with cover and berries. In April and May time frame this is where I'd hit snow both times and had to turn around as I was unprepared as a first time hiker of this trail. This particular section in the end of July and August its nearly overgrown with many greens and trees across the trail so one must be careful not to get your ankle stuck in these. Once you pass this area you'll cross a little creek and then shortly after the lake will be on your right. It's a nice beautiful green and deep looking. On this day there were so many bugs and butterflies that I couldn't hang near the shore for very long without getting eaten alive, even with a hefty coat of bug spray on. They seemed to be immune. The reward is fairly nice, however, it it's just cooling off you're after, you may be disappointed as that can be done down at lake Cushman or it's inflowing Skokomish River. There were many nice salmon berries to eat along the way. The only wildlife seen today on this hike was a family of grouse and a newt that surfaced at the lake. Once the lake experience is done it was time to head back down. This descent makes you painfully aware that a whole new set of muscles gets used for heading downhill. I don't recommend this to anyone as it's quite dangerous but I decided to double time the nearly the whole way, pushing my limits as it was 90+ degrees on this day. I made it down from the lake to the trailhead in 56 minutes. I took a few breaks to film along the way. I slept like a rock that night with the stars over my head at the Staircase campground. Wonderful experience overall.

DIY HomeBrew Cooper's Irish Stout Recipe Making and Taste Testing [Cooper's Irish Stout Home-brew]. This one is an estimated 5%. Great tasting. I like it better than guiness. I’ve had a couple stouts that are just outstanding. This one really has a nice sweeter taste to it. I was really surprised on how this one turned out. It has some wonderful notes of coffee and just a hint of licorice coupled with it’s nice and roasted smokey profile. It is a fully bodied beer with a smooth and creamy soft mouthfeel with moderate carbonation (but more than expected). As you can see from the video the sun has a hard time penetrating through the glass of the fine black stout thanks to the roasted barley. I can’t take full credit for making it as I purchased all of the ingredient. It was just a matter of putting them together correctly and waiting. It has a slight aroma of graininess and smoke. This batch turned out without any harsh characteristics or one characteristic overpowering the other, rather, just a nice enjoyable pleasant mix of all. The froth and creaminess of this stout seems to balance it all out and bring it all together. This beer is Vegan, however, I’m not sure if it’s necessarily Gluten free. No animals were killed during the brewing of this beer. The question gets asked sometimes, “Is Stout Good For you?”. It’s allegedly full of antioxidants and flavonoids which are the same thing that give fruits and veggies their dark color. Getting these anti-oxidants into your system is great for your heart and what a better way to do it than a tall glass of this nice home brewed delicious stout. Antioxidants are molecules that neutralise free radicals – unstable molecules that can harm your cells. We usually find them in foods such as raspberries, kale and artichokes – amidst many other fruits, vegetables and nuts. The health benefits associated with a diet packed with plants are at least partially due to the variety of antioxidants they provide your body! It’s been said that this will slow down the deposits of cholesterol on artery walls reducing risk of heart attacks. Stouts also generally have less calories per serving than other lighter beers! DIY GateHouse Hinge Pin Door Stop Installation Tutorial Demonstration [Gatehouse Hinge Pin Doorstop]. The first step is to buy a couple of these and then pop the hinge pin on the door. I used a small screwdriver and lightly tapped it out of place. I installed these individually one by one. Once the hinge pin is removed I pushed the door stop down over the hinge pin and tapped it back into place. Once installed the hinge pin doorstop can be adjusted to your desired setting to either open further or open less. In this case I needed to keep the door knob from hitting the glass closet doors and causing a huge destructive mess so it was mandatory I put these on. Super easy installation and quick too. These Reliabilt brand mirrored sliding closet doors (part # 201655) come with the top rail and bottle rail (roller guide) as well along with fasteners. Aside from the tools needed to saw the top guide rail and the roller guide, it comes with all the hardware that you need for this simple installation. You may want to remember to bring along some rope if you are hauling it via truck so that you can tie it down and keep it from sliding around. These doors were super simple to install and can be installed very quickly. They look sharp as well. Tools I used: Cordless drill, drill bit, phillips screw head bit and hack saw. I also used an electric hand held angle grinder with a cutting wheel on it. Step 1: Before going to hardware store or ordering, measure your dimensions (height and width in inches) Step 2: Take dimensions with you to the store when picking out doors. Make sure your door dimensions are less than or slightly smaller than the dimensions of the doors you will be purchasing. Too large typically won’t work unless you can make modifications to the framing around the closet which isn’t preferable. Step 3: Once you’ve purchased your doors and have hauled it home. Carefully unbox the doors and set out all your parts. You should have two sliding closet doors, one top track to facilitate the sliding of both doors, the bottom roller track, fastening screws and the rubber bumper stick ons. Step 4: Measure, mark and cut your top track with a hack saw. To keep the metal top track from distorting you can use a 2X4 to stick in the track to keep it from folding on itself. I started the cut with a hacksaw but ended up just using an angle grinder with a cutting wheel on it. Be sure to use safety glasses, gloves and hearing protection if you are going to be using this method. Step 5: Install top track with the provided 1.5” fastening screws. There should be 8 (eight) of them. Step 6: Measure and cut bottom track. Drill holes and screw it down with fastening screws. Step 7: Using a cordless drill or manual phillips screwdriver, drive out the wheels as much as necessary by tightening the phillips head screw at the top of each wheel. Step 8: Install the doors. I installed the back one first by stiding the top into the track and then setting the wheels in the roller guide track. Do the same with the other door. Step 9: (Final Step): Install the rubber stick ons for use as bumpers onto the ends of the doors so that if they are slammed they are less likely to break. The kit only comes with four which is only enough for one side of each door. I wanted to install them on both sides and I had some laying around from a prior project so I put them on both ends of the doors. This way they may be opened up either way with no increased risk of fracturing the large mirrored doors. They make these all-inclusive kits so that they can be easily installed quickly. The parts are lightweight and can easily be done by just one person. The mirrored doors are nice as they can make a smaller size bedroom appear larger. If you are looking for an upgrade this is a nice way to go as well as being relatively cheap to many other closet door options. This same installation method can be used for non-mirrored sliding closet doors. My width for this closet door was 59.5” and the door kit said 60”. This was just fine as the doors overlap a little, which is what I wanted to that worked out perfect. The height was approx. 81” so this worked as well due to the wheels having adjustable height screws in which to lower or lift the sliding closet doors into the groove of the upper guide for a nice secure fit.

DIY Building Outdoor Chain Link Dog Kennel Roof [DOG KENNEL]

 

This is the final product. I show the below steps from start to finish on this nice new dog kennel.

This tarped over dog chain link fenced in dog kennel needed a nice roof put on it. The tarp and fence served their purpose but it's time for more of a permanent fix.

The first order of business is to pull off the old scabbed together cross members that offered some temporary support for the tarp. Once the old "roof" was off I took some measurements and headed out to Lowes. I bought some two by fours, one by threes, plastic roofing, some screws, brackets, moulding to match the roof and some small nails to hold the plastic roof moulding down to the frame.

I took the 2X4's and played them across the top of the dog kennel fencing.

I then took the outer perimeter roof 1X3's and screws them dow to the 2X4 cross members making sure the frame stayed square.

I then nailed the moulding for the roof down to the cross members. I used some smaller sized nails so as not to crack the thin moulding.

Now its' time to lay the sheets of the plastic roofing down into the moulding. It fit quite nicely.

This took a little bit of time but not much at all. I overlapped the plastic roofing as well.

The overlap prevents the water from getting down into there.

This is a shot of the roof before the plastic sheeting gets put on. It shows almost the full installation of the roof moulding.

Once the sheets are overlapped I screwed them into the moulding with screws containing rubber grommets. If I could do this job again I think I would screw to the top of the moulding rather than in the valley to allow the water to flow more freely and also so it wouldn't be a stopping point for catching tree debris.

Slapping it all up there and screwing it down. This was all a one man job as all of the materials are very light and easy to work with.

I used brackets to secure the roof to the side walls of the chain link kennel to keep it from sliding off.

Here it is with all of the plastic sheeting put up and screwed down.

I secure the roof more with the brackets. The brackets are galvanized so they won't rust. I used a cordless drill to screw these in.

This is the spot/side where the water will run off. It's very slightly angled (not on purpose) so it makes it nice.I think if it wasn't already angled a little bit I'd stick some shims or some sort of riser under one side in order for it to have some kind of slope.

The dogs loved it. This acts as just a temporary shelter for them due to it's size. They get to stay inside during the night and in times of harsh weather.

Here's one last shot of the finished product. Way more sturdy than the tarp that was on there before.
