This Allen and Roth window shade was super easy to install and can be accomplished in a matter of minutes. I used a cordless drill for securing it's only two brackets to the interior of the window frame. Purchased at Lowe's. They are light weight and keep the sun from blasting through the window as well as provide maximum privacy. I take you step by step through the process in my "DIY Allen and Roth Blackout Window Shade Installation Demonstration [Allen and Roth Blackout Shade]" video.
Hey guys get some blinds i'm gonna put up here these allen and roth blinds but this is the before picture 47 inches across here's the blinds that we're going to be using
Okay again this was 47 inches across and these are 46 so you can see there's a little bit of a gap in there which is what you want which is the window seal will kind of make up that gap as well but if we did it on the full 47 i'm not sure that this would fit here's the brackets for these things okay we have a choice of either doing an inside mount like this or an outside mounting outside the frame here okay see those two dots there those are the marks i made with the pencil and i just made that because i'm going to pre-drill my holes right there
Now we're going to screw these into the two holes we just made to secure the bracket to the overhead all right we got our brackets up i'm just gonna pop the thing in there just snaps right in there gonna angle it down this piece is the handle to pull the shade down and it just grabs that lower edge you just snap it right on there i'll show you okay this is the upper portion so this just grabs that lip right there here we go
That was too easy
Thank you.

DIY Forging a Door Pull and Drawer Handle From Old Hardened Steel Tool [...
In my "DIY Forging a Door Pull and Drawer Handle From Old Hardened Steel Tool [Blacksmith Forged Door Pull]" I show how I hand forge some cool textured vintage looking door pulls/handles. I heated up the full length of some old tool steel and bent it around to my desired shape then flatten out the ends for a decorative look. I chose to drill the holes in each side. I coated this one with rustoleum spray paint but immediately regretted it as I should have just done my normal treatment to it with wither WD-40, linseed oil, or some bee's wax. Fun project and thought this was. a great repurposing of some old rusty tool steel that hasn't been used in over 20 years.

DIY Maytag Centennial Brand Clothing Dryer Installation Including Power ...
If you remember, take a picture of the existing dryer plug on the wall so you know which type of plug to purchase if you plan on replacing it. Make sure before you leave the store that you have an electrical cord in which to connect this with as every dryer I have ever purchased does NOT come with the electrical cord with it. I'm guessing this is likely because there are quite a few different versions of plugs in each house for various types of dryers. You install the cord on this you will also need a Phillips screwdriver. I used my cordless drill when I performed this operation. In my "DIY Maytag Centennial Brand Clothing Dryer Installation Including Power Cord [Maytag Dryer Installation Tutorial" video I take you step by step through the process of making it happen. While you are setting up your new dryer it may be a good time to clean out the lint in the dryer's vent duct.

DIY HomeBrew Cooper's Irish Stout Recipe Making and Taste Testing [Coope...
DIY HomeBrew Cooper's Irish Stout Recipe Making and Taste Testing [Cooper's Irish Stout Home-brew]. This one is an estimated 5%. Great tasting. I like it better than guiness. I’ve had a couple stouts that are just outstanding. This one really has a nice sweeter taste to it. I was really surprised on how this one turned out. It has some wonderful notes of coffee and just a hint of licorice coupled with it’s nice and roasted smokey profile. It is a fully bodied beer with a smooth and creamy soft mouthfeel with moderate carbonation (but more than expected). As you can see from the video the sun has a hard time penetrating through the glass of the fine black stout thanks to the roasted barley. I can’t take full credit for making it as I purchased all of the ingredient. It was just a matter of putting them together correctly and waiting. It has a slight aroma of graininess and smoke. This batch turned out without any harsh characteristics or one characteristic overpowering the other, rather, just a nice enjoyable pleasant mix of all. The froth and creaminess of this stout seems to balance it all out and bring it all together. This beer is Vegan, however, I’m not sure if it’s necessarily Gluten free. No animals were killed during the brewing of this beer. The question gets asked sometimes, “Is Stout Good For you?”. It’s allegedly full of antioxidants and flavonoids which are the same thing that give fruits and veggies their dark color. Getting these anti-oxidants into your system is great for your heart and what a better way to do it than a tall glass of this nice home brewed delicious stout. Antioxidants are molecules that neutralise free radicals – unstable molecules that can harm your cells. We usually find them in foods such as raspberries, kale and artichokes – amidst many other fruits, vegetables and nuts. The health benefits associated with a diet packed with plants are at least partially due to the variety of antioxidants they provide your body! It’s been said that this will slow down the deposits of cholesterol on artery walls reducing risk of heart attacks. Stouts also generally have less calories per serving than other lighter beers!

How to Unclog a Kitchen Sink Drain in Singapore | No P-trap Under Sink
The Singapore under sink plumbing set up is different than what I've seen in the states for the most part. This set up is pretty nice in many ways but also seems to clog up more frequently than most of the standard US p-traps I'm used to dealing with. This is really nice in the sense that when it does clog up you just put your water catch basin under the sink and unscrew the receptacle, dump it out, and screw it back on. Really a great set up if you ask me. The problem I saw was that it leaked no matter how tight I tightened it by hand once it was full of food waste debris.

How to Cook Delicious Crawdads/Mudbugs/Crayfish
We had a great day out at the lake catching crawdads. We used a combination of methods. We used the primitive method of diving down under water, flipping over the rocks and grabbing them. We also used a home made crawdad trap.
They turned out really good.
Step 1: Bring pot of water to a boil and add Johnny's Seasoning and some Old Bay
Step 2: The crawdads will turn orange
Step 3: Boil for about 5 to 10 minutes
Step 4: Remove from heat and cool. Run under cold water (optional)
Step 5: Melt some butter with garlic. Serve it up at enjoy!

DIY Easy SecurityTag Removal Process-Quick Detachment Method
DIY Easy Security Ink Tag Removal Process-Quick Detachment Method. Extra care must be taken with regards to safety when using this method as the clothing item could easy get wrapped around the grinder and you could lose a finger or a hand. This method is not recommended for the Ink capsule style tags as the ink will spray everywhere if it gets ground into by the pedestal grinder. All proper safety precautions must be observed when using this method. Better yet, I recommend you do not use this method as it's highly dangerous. I chose to use this method as I live far away from the mall and didn't want to make a trip all the way back there to have to bother with the holiday driving, parking, crowds, waiting in line a the store, just to get this tag removed so for me it was easier to do it myself. This actually worked really well and didn't cause any damage to myself or the piece of clothing that I bought. I just ground the whole thing off a little bit at a time and it only took a few minutes.

DIY Home Brew | English Brown Ale | Craft Beer Recipe Kit | Brewing to T...
Follow along step by step during the video. DIY Home Brew | English Brown Ale | Craft Beer Recipe Kit | Brewing to Taste Test. This turned out really good and got better after 3 to 4 weeks.
The first step was pouring about 2.5 to 3 gallons of filtered water into my brewpot. This brew kit came with grains to steep and make the wort as well as liquid malt extract and dried malt extract. The grains must be steeped in the brewpot. Once you steep them, much like tea, don't squeeze the grain bag after steeping, rather just let it drain. This is what make the wonderful wort. Now bring the wort to a rolling boil and add the liquid malt extract, the aromatic hops and the dried malt extract. Boil it for around and hour then cool it down as quickly in an ice bath or use a wort chiller. Once cooled down I then added the wort to my fermenter and added filtered water to the 23L mark. I then added the yeast. Once the yeast is added the brewing is complete. Now I let it ferment for 2 weeks. Once the 2 weeks was up I bottled it. I mixed and added priming sugar to the fermented brew right before bottling. After bottling I let it sit in the bottle for minimum of two weeks. Before partaking, I placed in the refrigerator to chill.

DIY Home Brew: Northern Brewer | Dead Ringer India Pale Ale Kit
I ordered this awesome beer kit from amazon. In this DIY Home Brew: Northern Brewer | Dead Ringer India Pale Ale Kit video, I take you step by step through unboxing, brewing and taste testing. This was ready to drink in just over a month. The first thing I did was heat approx 2.5 gallons of filtered water to 155F or approx 68F. Then take the provided grains, pour them into the grain bag, tie off the grain bag and place it into the water once it reaches temp. Maintain that temperature, no higher and no lower (plus or minus a couple degrees), and let it steep for 20 to 30 minutes. Once 20 to 30 minutes has elapsed, pull out the grain bag and let drain over the newly created wort. Don't squeeze it. Then it's time to bring the wort to a slow rolling boil. Total boiling time will be 60 minutes. Once boiling add the liquid malt extract. and stir in well. While it's boiling I added cool filtered water to the fermenter. I then added hops at 10 minutes time intervals and stirred them in. Once 60 minutes in complete I transferred the wort immediately to an ice bath. Once completely cooled I transferred (siphoned) the wort to the fermenter and topped it off with some additional filtered water. I then added the yeast and shook it around a little. Then I installed the air lock and let the brew sit for a couple weeks in a dark area. After a couple weeks I transferred it to a separate fermenter that was actually only used as a bottle filler and then mixed and added some hops and the priming sugar solution to give the brew carbonation. I then bottled it and let it sit for a couple weeks before sampling.

How to Construct a Brick Fire Pit in your Back Yard
Placed a nice metal fire ring inside the brick for easy clean up and decoration. One nice thing about living where I do is that it's legal to have little backyard bonfires. Many good times are had with get togethers around a fire. I needed to move locations of my fire pit so I decided to make a video while I made this new one. To get started I marked a counterpoint in the middle of my rough circle and started over turning the dirt with a shovel and breaker bar as it was very tough and rocky. Then I started digging out the hole in the ground deep enough to accurate the height of my fire ring that I wanted to put in the ground. I decided I wanted to inset this one into the ground for the most part rather than have it be mostly above ground. Once I dug enough dirt out to where I thought it would be deep enough, I started to test fit the metal fire ring for depth purposes but then I also used it as the template for which to create the circular brick portion around. With my digging tools I started widening the circle a little bit to make it large enough to fit the bricks. It was important to keep the bottom flat so the the bricks would be level. Once I got the bottom of the pit level I used my 3 foot level to make sure it was level. I was then able to stack all of the bricks in there in a circular pattern and then add the metal fire pit inside it. It turned out just as I planned and ended up using it quite a bit.

Project Source Brand Overhead Ceiling Light Fixture Installation-Model#0...
As homeowners and handymen we are always faced with having to do upgrades. It's crucial that us DIY technicians know how to handle these kids of tasks. Whether your a Mr. or Ms. Fix it kind of person, if you don't want to pay someone to do these kinds of DIY home electrical jobs than watch my videos on it. This one was a simple light fixture change out. I want to stress a couple of safety items here. First be sure the power is off. Second, be sure the power is off. Third, don't stand on something unsafe such as a slippery chair or bucket to reach up and perform this task. Get a ladder, get a voltage detector, turn off the breaker, turn off the switch, check for current.
Now open your new Project Source light fixture box and lay out all your new parts in an organized fashion. Unscrew the old mounting bracket. There are times when you don't have to do this when you get lucky and the existing mounting bracket will fit your new installation. After unscrewing then pull your wires down a little, inspect them and make sure they are good to go for your new installation. Next step is to reinstall your new mounting bracket into the recess. The same place from which you pulled the old one out. It's helpful to pre thread your screws into the metal mounting bracket as you will be installing this into the overhead. This goes for the little green ground wire screw as well. Using wire nuts, wire your new fixture to the house wiring accordingly. It's sometimes useful to pre-bend your grounding wire in a "U" shape to facilitate it's wrapping around the green ground screw.
Install your mounting screws and slip the new light fixture on them and then tighten. After securing the base part of the light to the ceiling via the mounting screws, go ahead and install the light bulbs. Now the center threaded rod gets installed. Don't worry about which side of the threaded rod goes in first because it bottoms out in the base, meaning, you can only thread it in so far until it stops. Now install the glass portion of your light and thread on the plastic washer, metal, washer and securing nut. Snug it up with a wrench. Not too tight, just snug. Now you can place your decorative cap and decorative end nut on. Now you're all set.

DIY Kwikset Door Handle and Dead Bolt Installation
In this "How To" DIY Kwikset Door Handle and Dead Bolt Installation, I take you step by step through the installation process after I replaced my front house door to an upgraded model.
This was a first of it's kind for me as the handle was a little bit different style than what I'd done before. It'd still turned out though.
The first thing you'll want to do is remove all your parts from the package then lay them out on a table or the floor next to your door.
Take the door knob insert and test fit it into it's hole in the door and make sure you know which way it's supposed to face depending on which way the door swings and closes. In this demo I did a test run on how the handle mechanism operates outside of the door prior to installing just so I understood and could see what was going on with the thing. I put the insert and the large handle portion in the door loosely. The smaller handle portion needs some assembly.
Now loosely assemble the rest of the parts in the door as shown. Tighten the smaller door handle first via the Allen head set screw. Now go ahead and tighten everything down.

Hotpoint Brand Oven Light Bulb Installation
DIY "How to" Hotpoint Brand Oven Light Bulb Installation Tutorial Instructional Demonstration. If you know how to do this then its very easy, but for those of us who don't, well...it can take a minute or two to figure out. If you watch this video, I will show you exactly how to replace the bulb in your Hotpoint Brand Oven. Many people just leave the light bulb in the burned out state for the life of the oven. I couldn't imagine not being able to see what's cooking or what it's looking like.
Many people, like myself are procrastinators. "Well the oven light is out" is what you may tell yourself. It's tough to get in there and get after it as it's one of those things that you can make do without. That being said, it's much nicer to have a working oven light than not. So if you can find the gumption to change out the light bulb, pop open the oven door and get after it. The first thing you want to do is take the securing wire and push or pull it off to the side. This is your first access point to getting this done. Be careful not to drop the glass that goes over it as you do. You can do this all with one hand no problem. So what you want to do is move the wire over while keeping some pressure on the glass and once the wire is pushed over, than sort of captivate and capture the glass. This will allow you to gain access to the light bulb. You will need a headlamp or flashlight for this job. Now take the existing light bulb and unscrew it. Now take your new one and screw it in.
Anyway, hope this little quick video helps you out. Good luck!

How to change smoke alarm batteries-Three different styles
Three different styles of smoke alarms and how to change the batteries on them. Smoke alarms will beep if they are getting low on batteries. If you suspect they are out or low, just replace the battery. Check them often and have more than one in a each area in case one happens not to work. It's a good idea to check these once every few months. You can test them by pressing the button on the front of the smoke alarm. If it doesn't make a loud beep when you push it, then the battery is dead or the smoke alarm is bad and should be replaced immediately. It's a good idea to have a smoke alarm in each room. There is no reason not to as they are very affordable and they are proven to save lives.
